Why work with a flight compensation company?
Why work with someone else, when claiming flight compensation in Brazil? Or elsewhere in the world? Why not claim flight compensation directly from the airline? That’s the main question we are going to answer in this air passenger’s rights guide. The short answer would be – because claiming compensation on your own can be a hard and time-consuming task.
That’s why most choose to work with a flight compensation company.

How to Claim Brazil Flight Compensation?
First things first — how to claim flight compensation in Brazil?
Generally speaking, there are two options.
Most people choose one of these options.
Number one — you can do it on your own. You can contact the airline, and request a compensation for flight delay or cancellation. You can do so, when experiencing a flight delay, overbooking or flight cancellation in Brazil, or in some other country. It’s the most straightforward option.
Number two – you can work with a flight compensation company. At the moment and with Brazilian flights, your best bet would be AirHelp. They are a market leader in Brazilian flight compensation claims. With them, it’s super simple, quick, and — if it doesn’t work out — you don’t pay anything for their legal services. So, it’s also safe.
Why Work With a Flight Compensation Company?
Why use a flight compensation company?
There are a number of reasons why you should claim compensation using a flight compensation company such as AirHelp.
- It is less time consuming. It can take months of communication between you and the airline. You will be left hanging, and the process could drag for months. If you work with a flight compensation company, the process usually is faster. Yes, it still can take several months, but usually it’s still faster than if you do it yourself. You are working with professionals who know what they are doing, and how to do it as efficiently as possible.
- It is less stressful. Not always this communication with your airline will be smooth and effortless. When you work with a flight compensation company, they do all of this on your behalf.
- Less paperwork. Everything is done online. With a compensation agency, all you mostly have to do is to fill your details and sign only one form. Unlike it is if you claim compensation yourself, when you may need to complete additional paperwork. Especially if you are going to take the case to court. If you work with a flight compensation company, all of this is done on your behalf, even the court documents (if and when necessary).
- Significantly higher success rate. Airlines often withhold information or sometimes give false information. You might be misled by that information. By giving an improper refusal, airlines avoid paying compensation to affected passengers, and thus save money. Working with a flight compensation company, there’s a less chance of that. Because legal specialists already know all of this. They know what kind of proof to ask for and how to get to the truth of what really happened.
- Updates about the process. If you work with a flight compensation company, you won’t be kept in the dark, and will know what is the status of the claim process. You will always have someone to turn to, if you have any questions about the process.
Claiming compensation by yourself | Work with professionals |
---|---|
Time consuming | Takes less time |
Lots of paperwork | You need to sign only one form |
Likely stressful | Hassle free – file a claim and the rest is done for you |
Often not successful | Higher success rate |
Improper refusal | Less chance of improper refusal |
No information from the airline | Regular updates |
You might end up with vouchers instead of money | You get the money |
If your claim goes to court, you need to pay (even if not successful) | No win, no fee |
Save Your Time and Nerves
Claiming compensation can be a hard task.
Especially if you are doing it yourself. It involves lots of paperwork, patience and negotiating skills. It is especially challenging if your first language is not English or Portuguese. Also it takes quite a lot of time as airlines usually are unresponsive and don’t give frequent updates. Once in a while they also give false information.
This is why flight compensation companies are getting more and more popular. For a fee, they help people get flight compensation but without the usual hassle. In addition to this, as you can see above, there are a few more advantages of working with a flight compensation company.
Save yourself trouble and work with a flight compensation company.
Is It for Free?
No, it’s not. There’s a service fee.
AirHelp service fee is around 35% of the received fight compensation.
Despite the fact that there’s a fee (it’s not for free), you don’t risk with your money. If you don’t get compensation from the airline, you won’t pay for the service. As they say – no win, no fee. One last thing – make sure to check the fee, before you sign any agreements.
How Much Can You Claim?
Unlike the EC 261/2004 (EU flight compensation regulation), ANAC 400 does not specify the amount of compensation affected passengers can get. The maximum amount is €1500. The compensation depends on each passenger’s circumstances and several factors such as the distance of the flight, the reason why the flight was delayed or cancelled and the type of services that weren’t offered.
Assuming, that you are getting the maximum amount (€1500), the compensation will be around (after paying the service fee): €1500 — 35% = €975. Not bad, huh? You can buy a new international flight for this.
Have you filed a compensation claim? Did you do it yourself or did you work with a flight compensation company? What was your experience?
